Happy New Year to everyone! 2019 is here!
I just received a nice email from a good friend who talked about working on some pretty hard stuff — Joe Morello’s Master Studies and Ted Reed’s Progressive Steps to Syncopation for the Modern Drummer. He was appreciative of some time the two of us spent where I showed him variations of the Ted Reed book that were shown to me by Alan Dawson, and also fellow Berklee students (back in the ’80’s). That Morello book still kicks my butt.
It sounds as if he is having fun with it, and it inspired me. One of my goals this year is to re-energize myself and my playing. As it turns out, his email became an inspiration for me. Thank you, Mike.
I miss seeing my Colorado peeps; however, the East coast is slowly becoming home now (again). I feel fortunate to be able to do what I do, and remain grateful.
