One of the reasons I made an upgrade at Gregory Tech Drum Center was to have the ability to record drum tracks for others — whether they are in my studio or not. Well, I just recorded a drum track for someone who sent me an mp3 of piano and voice! It went very well. I recorded a few different takes in ProTools and then, using the playlist feature, I put together a nice take. I used mainly one entire take with the ending from a different one. My client even wanted me to do the actual mixing of the drums. That was a bit scary, but I ended up having fun with that part of it. I tried to get the vibe of the song and add an appropriate reverb. I have to say, my Toft mixer was instrumental in mixing. I couldn’t be happier with the gear and now I’m ready for more projects!
