Whether I’m trying to relearn how to follow a conductor or learn a David Garibaldi groove, I keep trying. I refrain from saying, “well, I’m doing my best.” Yes, I may be doing the best that I can at that moment (which is important to acknowledge), but that may not be the end of it. I keep trying to make it better and to “get it right.”  I find if I can focus and stay positive, I can surprise myself. I find that I do the best that I can, and then try for something better. I have never been disappointed for approaching music in this way.
