I had the pleasure of being part of the rhythm section that backed up a number of student performers this past weekend at a student recital. For some of these young students, this was their first time in front of an audience other than their guitar teacher! It was a blast. They all did very well, including the mistakes. It’s been my experience, that the mistakes are a great way to learn. These young students had to deal with the anxiety, nervousness and excitement of performing. They all did this and more! Yes, there were some mistakes – but everyone kept pretty focused and kept going. The bass player and I kept our ears open and made adjustments as needed, and it was musical. I just wanted to give a big shout out to all of these students – GREAT JOB!!!
