The Dotted Quarter Note

I’m starting to put together a playlist highlighting musical examples of the dotted quarter note rhythm, especially in 4/4 (or Common Time). This is a really fun rhythm to explore and yet I have found that it can be a hard one for students to conceptualize. What seems to really help is when I play recordings that utilize this idea.
