Keep Smiling

I have noticed that some of my favorite musicians (including some drummers) seem to almost always be smiling while they perform. It’s quite obvious that they’re not only enjoying playing the music being played, but they’re also having a great time up on the bandstand with that particular group. This, to me, is so important. I am interested in playing good music, but more and more, I want to play with people that make me smile. It’s contagious — the audience will feel it and the other musicians playing music with me will feel it. Hopefully, I can be the one smiling and it can start there. Either way, keep smiling.
