I have the privilege of playing drums for a 10-piece big band called Whats Cookin’. This is a high energy band performing original charts of jazz standards, blues and fusion featuring many of Denver’s finest musicians. Currently, we play the last Sunday of every month at Jazz@Jack’s which is located at 500 16th Street (at Glenarm) in Denver. It’s on the 3rd floor (by the movie theater). There are some sound clips of the band on the Whats Cookin’ website.
This coming Sunday (January 27, 2013: 5:00-7:30pm) will be our next performance. This will be a very fun gig for a number of reasons, one of which is that Larry Campbell (co-leader and alto sax) will be celebrating his 70th birthday! Please come by and say hi and eat some of Larry’s cake. The club is usually 21 and over, but will allow all ages to our shows. There is no cover charge and the parking meters are free on Sundays.
