I have found that it’s been a great thing for me to set goals. Last year, I set a goal to upgrade my studio in an effort to expand on what I can offer potential clients. My studio went from a really cool high-tech teaching studio to a full-blown recording studio.
I have already recorded a live band — electric guitar, electric bass and drums. We recorded two instrumental bluesy/jazzy tunes. I couldn’t be happier with the sound that I was able to capture. Since that recording, I have bought some nice microphones that will help me continue to record acoustic instruments and vocals.
I have also recorded for a client who sent me an mp3 consisting of piano and vocals. This client wanted a drum track before he recorded bass and other instruments. I was also asked to mix the drums down to a stereo mix. He didn’t want to sort through the numerous drum tracks that make up one drum take. This was pretty cool. Not only did I record and play, but I was given the chance to really affect the vibe of the entire track.
Next up? More of all it! Plus… I will soon be recording video lessons. I will post some of these on my youtube channel and others will be available on my website. Please keep checking back.
