OK, so let’s say you have an education in music. Perhaps you have a degree, maybe even a Master’s Degree or beyond. You are a trained musician, as they say. You are able to talk about harmony and theory in a way that  others may not understand. That’s great. Now, please forget all of that and play music!

It’s been my experience that I end up sharing the bandstand with all sorts of people from varying backgrounds – personal and educational. It is always my goal to try to make music and not be concerned about how we got to share the same stage. The fact is, we’re all there – together. We’re trying to make music as a unit. The group seems to sound better if I simply try to connect to my fellow bandmates as musicians and people, above all else. If I can leave my ego at the door, then the chances of creating some good music and also creating some nice feelings are much more likely. To me, that’s the real deal.
