I’m not the first drum instructor to recognize just how important the basics are when learning the drums. When I was first taking lessons, my drum teacher taught me the rudiments and instilled in me an appreciation of their importance. To this very day, I am thankful. When I listen to drum set grooves and fils, I hear practical applications of these building blocks all the time. Please remain open to learning snare drum rudiments when they are presented to you. Your hands will thank you and when you go to learn that new song (or old song), things will be that much easier.
